Static mixers, also known as motionless mixers, are a type of mixer which operates through fluid turbulence, rather than using a motor or other power source. They are made up of a series of mixing elements fixed to the mixer pipe, tube or shell. These elements are typically a series of baffles, made from either stainless steel, other metals or plastic.
Static mixers are installed directly within your pipe system, and as the fluid is injected through the injection port, it churns through the baffles. This flow causes the mixer elements to rotate, resulting in efficient mixing even when external power is not available. Because a static mixer has no independently moving parts, it is maintenance free, and can be installed inline in almost any pipeline.
FluidPro offers a variety of static mixer types, including PVC, stainless steel, titanium, polypropylene, Teflon, Kynar and polyacetal, to suit different mixing requirements. Choosing a plastic static mixer or a metal one will depend on the fluids being mixed, and whether you are working with UPVC pipes, metal ones or a variety of other materials.
Inline static mixers can be customised to suit high or low viscosity fluids or corrosive chemicals, and can be customised to meet your Coefficient of Variation (CoV) targets.
